SUSTAINABILITY AND TRACEABILITY
Sustainability is fast becoming the norm of worldwide and our mission of long-term development. Fur is a sustainable resource. It is natural and biodegradable. Some publics suggest to wear faux fur instead of real fur, by claiming faux fur is more sustainable and environmental friendly. However, faux fur in fact, is made of plastic and it is harmful to the environment. A very simple experiment has been made by furrier, by buried a piece of faux fur and real fur which cut from ready-made garments for biodegrade testing. After one year, the “hair” of faux fur still looks good but the real fur is almost gone. Since faux fur are made from synthetic polymeric fibers such as acrylic, modacrylic, and/or polyesters. These materials are derived from coal, air, water, petroleum and limestone. These all make pollutions on the air, soil and ocean.
Fur always keeps you warm and very long-lasting if storage properly. Fur can be always up to fashion. A fur coat from grandma could be remodeled into trendy style for grandkids. Like a coat alters into a vest. Its remaining scraps can be made stuff toys or accessories. If faux fur is out of season, it cannot be recycled. It will just increase the burden of landfills when clearing out the closet.
